This 20x4 LCD display makes use of I2C, allowing you to add an easy to use text display to any Arduino or Raspberry Pi. Libraries are available for both Arduino and Raspberry Pi. It also features a backlight. You can add display functionality to your HamShield or LoRa project!
Where this LCD really shines is its ability to display crisp text in very bright lighting conditions, as the display is passive. The backlight allows the display to be read in low light and night time conditions.
Pins are labeled VCC, SDA, SCL, and GND. There is also a potentiometer for controlling the contrast. It can be adjusted with any common screwdriver.
Powering the display is simple: connect VCC to 5V DC, GND to ground, and SDA and SCL to the appropriate serial lines. The LCD will not function properly at 3.3V for its main power supply, however.
Note that while the display runs off 5V, I2C is open collector. This means it is compatible with both 3.3V and 5V systems, without the risk of damage.
